Sunset Dinner Cruise - Travel & Attraction Guide - Wisconsin Dells

Spectacular Views, Great Food Highlight Sunset Dinner Cruises

A boat cruise at sunset provides some of the most spectacular views of the beautiful sandstone rock formations that line the Wisconsin River and are the showcase of Wisconsin Dells. This summer Dells Boat Tours once again serves up Sunset Dinner Cruise offerings coupled with delicious cuisine by the chefs of Chula Vista Resort.

“When the setting sun reflects on the sandstone it gives off the most beautiful hues,” said Dan Gavinski, general manager of Dells Boat Tours. “It’s truly a relaxing way to take in the scenery and see the quiet side of the Dells.” Sunset Dinner Cruises embark five times a week during the peak summertime and are offered on select holidays and weekends in June. The cruise features a surf n’ turf menu, live entertainment and a shorelanding highlighted by a stroll along a torch-lit boardwalk.

The 2¼-hour excursion takes passengers on the Upper Dells of the Wisconsin River, which features some of the most unique and dramatic rock formations of the region. While the boat meanders through the route, boat pilots and guides provide light narration of the region’s history and local lore.

Along the way, guests are treated to the musical talents of Dan Soma, a wellknown regional performer who plays guitar and harmonica and sings, entertaining with a variety of genres. Soma has also been a river boat pilot for many years and is very knowledgeable about life on the water.

The great hospitality continues with a surf n’ turf dinner buffet prepared by the chefs of Chula Vista Resort. Guests can enjoy a mixed greens and romaine salad tossed with dressing and house-made croutons. The main entrée includes a 7-ounce sirloin and a 3- to 4-ounce lobster tail served with roasted red potatoes and chef’s choice of market fresh vegetable. The meal is topped off with a gourmet dessert. An assortment of beverages is included and a cash bar is available for cocktails.

As night falls, the Sunset Dinner Cruise makes a stop at Witches Gulch, where torches light the boardwalk into the mysterious glen. Guests can disembark and take a leisurely stroll into the quiet shady gorge.

Sunset Dinner Cruises depart from the Upper Dells boat dock in downtown Wisconsin Dells and are offered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights during July and August.
